Megacard Summer Cup 2006 Results From Day 4 (August 5, 2006)
Schulz Academy '90 finished fourth overall at the Megacard Summer Cup 2006 U-17 tournament in Austria as they fell 4:0 to Borussia Dortmund in the third place game. Tournament host FSA Austria MAGNA was once again crowned champions by defeating PSV Eindhoven 3:0 in the Final. The fourth place finish by Schulz Academy is a tremendous accomplishment for a club that is only 3 years old. They finished ahead of Glasgow Rangers, Dinamo Zagreb, Malmö FF, and Ado Den Haag (Holland), all clubs with decades of tradition. Donovan Henry was named to the all tournament team for his outstanding midfield play. Shawn Barry also received all tournament defensive honors. Lyle Dankenbring was named the tournament's Best Goalkeeper.
In other results on this final day, Ado Den Haag beat Malmö FF 2:1 and Glasgow Rangers beat Dinamo Zagreb 2:1.
The Megacard Summer Cup is one of Europe’s most important international youth tournaments for players born 1990. This year the tournament featured clubs such as PSV Eindhoven (Holland), Borussia Dortmund (Germany), Glasgow Rangers (Scotland), Malmö FF (Sweeden), Ado Den Haag (Holland), Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia), Schulz Academy (Florida-USA), and host FSA Austria MAGNA the eventual tournament champions. Past winners include FSA Austria MAGNA in 2005 and VfB Stuttgart (Germany) in 2004. Bayern Munich, Werder Bremen and Feyenoord Rotterdam were also very prominent participants in the past.
Before their return home to the U.S., Schulz Academy ’90 will play a friendly game against VfB Stuttgart (Germany) on August 8th.
