TAMPA FL, (November 16, 2007) - Schulz Academy got off to a very good start on Day 1 of the USL Super Y-League North American Finals. The Finals are held in Tampa Florida from November 16-20 and features 140 of the best teams from the U.S. and Canada. On Day 1, Schulz Academy posted 2 wins, 1 tie, and 1 loss. The 3-time defending SYL Champions Schulz Academy U17 Boys knocked off the Southern California-Bayern Munich sponsored champions South Coast Bayern by a score of 3-2 in what was the most entertaining match of the day. Hugh Dixon scored two goals and Jamel Johnson had the other for Schulz. The U16 Boys tied 2-2 with Louisville Kentucky State Champs and Tampa Sunbowl Champions United 1996 FC after being reduced to 10 men for a portion of the game. The U14 Boys handed Washington Crossfire their first lost, 2-0, and positioned themselves to win the group. Michael Hornat and Felipe Noguerel each scored a goal. Meanwhile, the U17 Girls in their first Super Y-League Finals fell to the unbeaten South Atlantic Division Champs Triangle FC by a score of 4-0.
