Day 2 Update From SYL Finals
U17 Boys in driver's seat, U14 Boys must win, U16 Boys must win and get help, U17 Girls eliminated
TAMPA, FL (November 17, 2007) - Day 2 at the USL Super Y-League North American Finals proved to be a little tougher for Schulz Academy teams as they ended the day with 1 win, 1 tie, and 2 losses. The U17 Boys, poised with experience, did not let up as they dispatched the Atlanta Silverbacks 4-1. Shawn Barry scored the opener assisted by Karol Chorak. Then Kyle McEntee scored an amazing bicycle-kick. Joshua Breto bagged the 3rd and 4th goals for Schulz. The U16 Boys lost a 1-0 heartbreaker to Canadian team Ottawa Fury to set up a must win situation for Sunday’s game vs Red Bull New York. The U16 Boys must also rely on favorable results from the other group game. The U14 Boys have their destiny in their own hands after a 1-1 tie with USA 17 Academy off a Felipe Noguerel goal. The U14 Boys must win against PDA on Sunday as PDA will have the better goal differential should both teams end up tied on points. The U17 Girls suffered their second loss of the tournament and is all but eliminated. The result was a 4-2 loss to Canadian team Ottawa Fury. So, three out off four teams still have a shot at getting past the group stage of the competition. Sunday’s matchups will be all the more exciting to watch.
