Last weekend was an eye opener for most of the clubs in Florida. All 4 South Florida Elite Teams, the official partner for player development for the Schulz Academy, won their tournaments at the Labor Day Weekend in decisive manner. While the U11 and U12 team won all their games, including the Finals at the Blackwatch Tournament in Tampa, the U14 and U15 teams did the same at the Disney Showcase Qualifier in Orlando at the Disney’s Wide World of Sports Soccer Complex.

“It was not the wins, it was the way all the teams played in these tournaments”, says Charles Freitas, one of the Directors of Coaching of South Florida Elite. “Technically and especially in the understanding of the game department our players were on a different level than all other clubs participating in this event”.

Jorge “Pitu” Alvarez, one of the 3 Directors of Coaching of SFE, was very happy with the performance of the teams, too: “We not only won with all 4 teams the tournaments, we simply won all the games. They looked like young professionals on the field. Everybody was comfortable and relaxed on the ball, and outplayed their opponents, although the competition was very strong”.
There was one score, which stood out in the whole tournament. The U15 team of Clearwater beat the reigning National Champion in this age group “Weston” in their group game, knocking them out of the tournament, and in the Final South Florida Elite’s U15 team then beat Clearwater with a score of 8-0.

“The outcome of these tournaments over the Labor Day Weekend just shows what a great job “Pitu” Jorge Alvarez, Charles Freitas, Christian Block, Mauricio Contreras, and Ozzie Matute (goalkeeper coach) are doing with the players every day in their practices”, says Dr. Josef Schulz, one of the Director of Coaches of South Florida Elite, and president of Schulz Academy.
