Schulz Predicts Josmer for U.S. in 2010
"I predicted it 7 years ago, and I predict it now. Josmer Altidore will be one of the top players at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa playing for the U.S. Men’s National Team." says his former coach Dr. Josef Schulz.
After Saturday’s extraordinary performance vs. Houston Dynamo, Josmer’s former coach Dr. Josef Schulz is finally not the only one anymore who sees a bright future of the new teen star of Red Bull New York. American soccer experts, the commentators of the game, and international experts all agree, that "Jozy" has everything a player needs to succeed on the highest level of soccer. After the game Josmer was awarded the "Player of the Game" award.
"It was not only the game deciding goal, it was the overall performance, which showed that he made the next step into this direction. He didn’t loose balls in difficult situations, facing his own goal and being surrounded by 3-4 defenders, he created great goal scoring opportunities by himself, and at the end decided the game with a typical Josmer goal. The funny thing is that every goal he scored up until now in the MLS and every goal he will score in the future, will be "typical" Josmer goals, because he scored already so many gaols in his life. I think he scored around 100 goals every year in the 8 years he played either for Boca Juniors or for our Academy." states Dr. Josef Schulz. <<< Josmer’s glancing header vs. FC Dallas on April 15 >>>
"What makes Josmer so special is the fact, that he plays the most difficult position on the field. To play in the midfield or as a defender it is much easier than the position he plays. To be the target player, like he is at Red Bull, for a 17 year old, and being the only forward is not an easy role. And he plays this position already like the top pro’s in Europe.", continues Dr. Josef Schulz.
"Josmer is a big role model for our younger players in the Academy. They can see, that the door is wide open for American players to make an international career." adds Dr. Josef Schulz.
Here are some photos of Josmer when he started his goal rush at an 8 year old.
