Solomon Braun is National Heisman Trophy Finalist
Schulz Academy player wins the State and Regional Heisman Award

Boca Raton, FL (November 15, 2007) - Congratulations to Solomon Braun, a U17 player of Schulz Academy and Boca Juniors since the age of 11, for being a National Finalist of the prestigious 2007 Wendy’s Heisman Award.  The award is given each year to the nation’s top High School scholar athlete.  The Heisman is more familiar to folks who follow college Football.  Each year the winner of the collegiate version is drafted into the NFL for millions of dollars.  The high school version is even better as it also takes into consideration academics. Also, the recipient’s school will receive $10,000 and the recipient automatically becomes a top candidate for college scholarships.

"We are extremely proud of Solomon, who has been a key player in the Academy since he arrived at age 11.  He was part of the U14, U15, and U16 teams that won three consecutive Super Y-League National titles.  He also was part of the U14 Boca Juniors team that finished second in the Dallas Cup in 2004 with a narrow loss to Monterray from Mexico.  His achievements over the years are too many to list. I want to personally congratulate him." Says Dr. Josef Schulz.

About Wendy’s Heisman Award
For eight generations, the Heisman name has signified excellence, determination, and prestige among college football’s elite.  In 1994, the next level of outstanding achievers ensconced their names into the Heisman lore when the Wendy’s high School Heisman (WHSH) was created.

The WHSH program has set the standard for high school student-athletes, and gained tremendous prestige in its own right.  Each fall, the program recognizes the nation’s most esteemed high school senior men and women for excellence in academics, athletics, and community/school involvement.

To date more than 150,000 high school students have represented their schools and have been touched by the Heisman mystique.  Of them, 157 have progressed to the National Finalist level, with 26 earning the designation of Wendy’s High School Heisman National Award Winners.

Below is a wonderful letter from Robin Braun (Solomon’s mother) to Dr. Josef Schulz:

Dear Josef,

I’m not sure if you saw the news last night, but Solomon is the State winner of the Wendy’s Heisman Award.  He also won the region and is now a National Finalist.  He is one of six finalists out of 32,000 students across the U.S. This is a very prestigious award based on scholarship, athletics and citizenship and all the t.v. stations and newspapers were at his school yesterday. ESPN will be coming to tape him as well next week, for a special airing on Sunday, Dec. 9

I am sharing all of this with you as his years playing for you have been so important  in helping him achieve at such a high level.  You and Boca Juniors/Shulz Academy have been such an important part of his life and I want to thank you for all of your coaching over the years and especially your understanding this past year and a half.

I want to wish you much success this weekend.

I am planning to come up on Sunday evening to watch the Finals’ games.

Thank you again.

All the best,

Robin Braun
