Altidore Scores Hat-Trick In Friendly For Villarreal, Debuts In "La Liga" With 1-0 Win
U.S. striker Jozy Altidore starred for Villarreal Saturday in a friendly against semi-pro club team San Rafael. Altidore scored twice in the first half en route to netting a hat trick, as Villarreal cruised to an easy 7-1 win. With most of Villarreal’s regular lineup away on international duty, Altidore was given the start as coach Manuel Pelligrini wanted to see what his new signing could do. Josmer’s goals were scored in the first minute of the game, another before halftime, and the third in the second half.
On Sunday he had his first game in “La Liga” with an impressive performance.

“Josmer showed his extraordinary talent when he came in 2nd half in the game Villarreal vs. Deportivo La Coruna. Every time he was on the ball he showed something special, and with some luck he could have scored one, and assisted 2. I think with this performance he has a shot to be on the game roster for the Champions League game during the week vs. Manchester United in Old Trafford. And him coming on the field there, everything can happen” says Dr. Josef Schulz.
Josmer Altidore had his highlights in the 50th minute with a solo on the left side of the field, where he showed his speed, and technique assisting one of his player a goal scoring opportunity, in the 60th minute with a first touch shot from outside the box, which challenged the La Coruna goalkeeper, and in the 74th minute with a dribbling on the right side, almost assisting the 2nd goal for Villarreal.
“This performance hopefully will earn him some appearances in the next World Cup qualifiers for the US National Team. He proofed already his importance there with a goal vs. Mexico a few months ago”, hopes Dr. Schulz.
