Altidore, Top Scorer and MVP at U-20 World Cup

Josmer Altidore celebrates his 2 goals after USA’s victory over Brazil in the U-20 World Cup in Canada.

AC Milan representatives came to see Alexandre Pato of Brazil, but another player impressed them much more. Josmer Altidore’s 2 goals made a big impression on the AC Milan delegation. Altidore now has 3 goals in 3 games and is the leading scorer (with 2 other players) at the U20 World Cup in Canada. He was also voted the MVP of the game vs Brazil.

"Although already deciding big games like this, I still think we see only a part of Josmer’s big talent. At the age of only 17, he still needs to grow into his athletic body, and when he is done with this, we will see the real Josmer. The current part of his game is already wonderful to watch though, and he shows that he is the real deal, even on the highest level of the World Cup", states Dr. Josef Schulz, his former coach at Schulz Academy and Boca Juniors.

Another Schulz Academy player, Shawn Barry, defender in 3 time National Championship team Schulz Academy U-17  is heading to Brazil with the US U18 National Team from July 13 - 26 to participate in the Pan-American Games, which are a continental version of the Olympic games, and are always held one year before the Olympic Games.

The US team will open the tournament on July 15 against at 5:15 p.m. ET at the Zico Football Center before taking on on July 18 at 2 p.m. ET at the Miecimo da Silva Sport Complex. The will round out group play against on July 21 at 9 a.m. ET at ’s famed Maracana Stadium. The tournament semifinals will take place on July 24 and the third place and final matches will be held on July 27, all at Maracana Stadium.

"To play in the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro is one of biggest moments in anybody’s soccer career. I am so happy for Shawn, that he can experience things like this. There are already some very good offers from big clubs in Europe for Shawn, but I think in his case it is the better thing right now to start with college, and get more experience on this level, before making the move to Europe", says Josef Schulz, founder of the Schulz Academy.
Of the 17 players, nine have been a part of the U.S. Under-17 Residency Program and four were part of the U.S. Under-17 team that participated at the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Other Schulz Academy news:

The U20 Schulz Academy team beat in the Super Y League South East Division the defending National Champion from last year, Kendall 3-1 behind 3 goals of Gabe Taboada, and a strong team effort, and started the Super  Y League with 5 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie.

The U13 Schulz Academy team is up to a great start too, beating Brandon Flames on Saturday 5-0, and on Sunday in a "thriller" the current State Cup Champion Weston with a score of 2-1.

"Normally I always mention the goal scorers but in this case the whole team made such a great effort that I will not do it, because I dont’ want to take anything away from any player who was part of the team".

The U14, U15, U16 and U17 Schulz Academy teams positioned themselves already with a great start to qualify for the National Championship in November in Tampa.

Schulz Academy’s record in all Super Y League games this season is 22 wins, 3 losses, and 3 ties, which puts them in the first 3 top teams in the country right now.
