Jacquelyn Kinni scores a Hat-Trick to give the U13 Girls their 1st win of the 2008 Super Y season
BOCA RATON, FL (June 3, 2008) - Schulz Academy got it’s 2008 USL Super Y-League campaign off and running with both its U13 Girls and U14 Girls in action at Magic Jack Park in West Palm Beach this past weekend. Both teams experienced mixed results over the weekend but remain confident in their quest for a bid to SYL Nationals as the season is still very young. The U13 Girls dropped their opener to West Pines United 1-3, but then bounced back against Sunrise SC 5-0. The U14s also dropped their opener to Kendall Soccer 0-2 and returned the following day to tie Sunrise SC 1-1.

On Sunday, a hat-trick from standout U13 defender
Jacquelyn Kinni (’94) proved to be the highlight of the weekend for the Schulz Academy U13 Girls. Jacquelyn who typically plays sweeper (or sometimes stopper) showed how versatile she can be as she stepped up to a midfield role and delivered. She was comfortable on the ball and was actively involved in numerous offensive sequences. Jacquelyn’s 3-goal performance gave the team a much needed lift and secured a precious 3 points.
Donish Cole (’95) and
Dominique Cole (’97) each added a goal and an assist, while
Elizabeth Caputo (’95) notched an assist to round out the 5-0 win. Goalkeeper
Cheyenne Walker (’94) posted her first shutout of the young season.
The Schulz Academy U14 Girls fell to a very well organized Kendall Soccer team 0-2 on Saturday. The Schulz U14 team was unlucky not to score as they missed on some good looks at goal from point blank range. What was very positive is the fact that the Schulz U14 Girls created many more scoring opportunities and had much more of the possession than their opponents. On Sunday the U14 Girls faced off against Sunrise SC. Both teams played well and the game ended in a well deserved 1-1 tie. Kristina Shakes (’94) was not to be denied as the State ODP Select player scored a low streamer from 20 yards out after turning and beating her marker with a couple of good fakes.
The U14 Girls are in action again on Wednesday, June 4, against Weston SC at Vista Park - 6:30PM. The girls then travel up to Tampa on Saturday where they will play RSL U13, U14, and U15 Girls teams.
Update: On Wednesday, June 4th, the Schulz Academy U14 Girls travelled south to Weston SC for a Southeast divisional match up. Schulz Academy came away with a 6-2 win. Kristina Shakes (’94) scored twice, a header followed by a 25 yard left-foot bomb. Arielle Gonzales (’93) opened her account with a 30 yard stike that caught the goalkeeper out. Yulie Lopez (’94), a State ODP Select player with dazzling skill and speed, scored her first goal. Schulz’s 5th goal came from Sidney Morales-Parodie, another State ODP Select player. Donish Cole (’95) capped off the scoring for Schulz as she turned and beat two defenders with a great first touch and speed before sliding the ball past an advancing goalkeeper. Kristina Shakes, Sara Ballante (’93), and Arielle Gonzales each added an assist.
