BOCA RATON, FL (August 18, 2008) –  Schulz Academy U14 Girls finished the Super Y-League season with 10 straight wins to earn 2nd place in the SYL Southeast division with a 10-1-1 record. Despite an impressive run of 10 consecutive wins, the Schulz Academy U14 Girls will miss out on an automatic bid to attend the Super Y-League 2008 North American Finals. The U14 Girls closed out the weekend with wins over West Pines United and FC Sarasota. U14 Region III ODP Select team standouts Paulina Speckmaier (’94) and Kristina Shakes (’94) would tally goals in their final regular season games to cap off an impressive summer that saw both girls get invited to the U.S. U14 Girls National Identification Camp. The team also featured Yulie Lopez (’94) who is away this week at the Nike Friendlies in California representing the U.S. U14 Girls National Team.

“I am very happy with the way the U14 Girls represented the Academy this year. Their attitude, enthusiasm, and the level of commitment was simply terrific. It is unfortunate that only one team goes through to Nationals from the Southeast because, in my opinion, when we have our full complement of players, we are the National Champions. Anyway, with that being said, I congratulate Kendall SC, as they are a great team, and I am confident they will represent South Florida well, and I wish them much success at Nationals.” said Girls’ Academy Director, Gary Cole.

The U14 Girls were coached by Carlton Rohan Shakes with assistant coach Michael McIntosh. The team was managed by Sandy Jackson and was made up of players who play their regular season soccer with the Renegades, Wellington Soccer Club, Parkland Predators, and Hillsborough County United. Congratulations to all the players, coaches and parents who made this season possible. Good luck to all the girls with upcoming id2 and SYL ODP camps, and regular season and High School competitions.
