Schulz Academy Girls Kick-Off 2009 Super Y-League Campaign With 6 Wins and 1 Tie
Defending Southeast Division Champions U14 Girls start the season with 3 straight wins
BOCA RATON, FL (Friday, June 12, 2009) – Schulz Academy Girls began the 2009 Super Y-League season with 6 wins and a tie in their first seven games. The U15s defeated Sunrise 10-1 and later downed Plantation FC 4-2. The U14s won 2-0, 3-0, and 6-1 over Sunrise, Kendall, and Mako Sharks respectively to start the defense of their Southeast Division championship. While the U13s beat Florida Rush 3-1 and tied Plantation FC 1-1.

The U15 Girls coached by Rohan Shakes began their 2009 campaign with a flurry of goals. Paulina Speckmaier (’94) scored 3, Katherine Baquero (’94) scored 3, Donish Cole (’95), Jannel Johnson (’93), Aubri Williamson (’94), and Yulie Lopez (’94) also added goals in the 10-1 rout of their host Sunrise SC. Jannel Johnson (’93) and Paulina Speckmaier (’94) each added 2 assists, while Nicole Harris (’95), Yulie Lopez (’94), Arielle Gonzalez (’93) and Kristina Shakes (’94) each added 1 assist. Jasmine Watson (’94) anchored the Schulz Academy defense with Sarah Guensler (’94), Sarah Piechocki (’93), Kaitlyn Stolzenberg (’95) and Aubri Williamson (’94) who scored a fortuitous goal from near half line. Meanwhile, Brittany Polly (’93) tended goal and allowed just a penalty kick.

The U15 Girls followed up their impressive opening day win with a 4-2 decision away to Plantation FC in mid week. The first half ended with Plantation holding a 1-0 lead. However, second half substitute, Donish Cole (’95), brought some much needed energy that sparked a Schulz comeback. Paulina Speckmaier (’94) Donish Cole (’95), Sidney Morales-Parodie (’94) and Jannel Johnson (’93) each scored a goal.

Schulz Academy U14 Girls
The defending Southeast champions U14 Girls began their season with an impressive 2-0 win over Sunrise SC. Goals from Super Y ODP Select Team player Donish Cole (’95) and Yulie Lopez (’94) was enough to seal the victory and effectively put Schulz in the driver’s seat in the short 8-game regular season. Nicole Harris (’95) and Donish Cole (’95) each had assists. Goalkeeper Aubri Williamson (’94) recorded a shootout behind defenders Jasmine Watson (’94), Heather Buck (’94), Cierra Fisher (’94), Kaitlyn Stolzenberg (’95) and Eva Banton (’94).

In their second game, the U14 Girls played host to Kendall SC. Donish Cole (’95) had a goal and an assist, Hannah DeBose (’96) scored a header, and Madeline Nagy (’95) scored a goal after dribbling through 5 Kendall defenders and slotting home a low shot in the corner past the Kendall goalkeeper. Taylor Eller (’95) also had an assist. Goalkeeper Jenna Ornstein (’96) recorded her first shutout in her first appearance for Schulz Academy behind defenders Dominique Cole (’97), Heather Buck (’94), Cierra Fisher (’94), and Kaitlyn Stolzenberg (’95).

The U14s then played away to Mako Sharks and took a 6-1 decision with goals from Madeline Nagy (’94) who scored 2, Taylor Eller (’95), Hannah DeBose (’96), Dominique Cole (’97), and Eva Banton (’94).

Schulz Academy U13 Girls
The U13 Girls faced off against Florida Rush in their season opener. Schulz took a 1-0 lead off an own goal from a Florida Rush defender. Then Donish Cole (’95) scored from the top of the 18 after collecting a pass from her sister Dominique Cole (’97). Taylor Coley (’96) closed out the scoring for Schulz when she collected a pass from Michaela Kopecki (’96) and out-paced the defense to score a low hard shot from 16 yards out. Florida Rush pulled one back to make the final score Schulz 3, Rush 1.

In a mid-week game the U13s travelled south to Plantation FC where they battled to a hard fought 1-1 tie. Katelyn Godoy (’96) scored the game’s first goal to give Schulz a 1-0 lead early on. However, late in the game Plantation was awarded a penalty kick to level the score.

The Schulz Academy Girls will return to Super Y action in August after their 7-week Summer break.
