Shawn Barry, Alex Dixon, and Hasani Sinclair Make ODP All Star Teams
BOCA RATON, FL (January 8, 2008) - The 2007 US Youth Soccer ODP Super Group for the Disney Showcase in Lake Buena Vista featured 6 Schulz Academy players in the ’91 and ’90 age groups playing on Regional ODP Select teams. Shawn Barry, Alex Dixon, Edvin Worley, and Manny Gonzalez were on the Region III ’90 team, while Hasani Sinclair and Alex Bidos played with the Region III ’91 team. The showcase event is among the top recruiting tournaments in the country. This year, the showcase played host to over 600 teams along with the eight Super Group teams and more than 900 collegiate coaches. US Youth Soccer ODP players participating in the Super Group were selected through a series of trials at their local, State Association and then Regional levels.

Throughout the Showcase weekend the Schulz Academy boys made their presence felt as Dixon, Gonzalez, and Sinclair all tallied goals for their respective Regional teams. Dixon Scored the opening goal in the 3rd place game in Region III ‘90s 2-1 victory over Region II. Edvin Worley and Alex Bidos also had strong performances and were unlucky not to get All Star selections (Worley earned this honor last year). Super defender and U.S. U18 Men’s National team player Shawn Barry could not be denied as he was unanimously selected to the ODP ’90 All Star team. Alex Dixon was also selected to the ODP ’90 All Stars. And Hasani Sinclair, no stranger to All Star and National Select teams, was selected to the ODP ’91 All Star team.

The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program was formed in 1977 to identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected for international competition; to provide high-level training to benefit and enhance the development of players at all levels; and, through the use of carefully selected and licensed coaches, develop a mechanism for the exchange of ideas and curriculum to improve all levels of coaching.
