(March 23, 2008)Schulz Academy emerged as the overall Boys’ Club Champions of the US Club Soccer 2008 Champions Cup on Sunday, March 23 at David Maus Toyota Seminole Soccer Complex in Sanford, FL. The four-day Champions Cup is a true club championship utilizing a unique format with clubs accumulating points for results in three age groups. An invitation only event, separate boys’ and girls’ titles were awarded on Sunday.

"All 3 age groups had great performances, and showed the quality of our players in all age groups. To win a competition like this, where all the results of all age groups are added to decide the National Club Champion is huge. We are very proud, and we are already looking forward to defend our title next year. Ranked # 5 in the country made us kind of the favorites for the title, but the way how dominant we were, was surprising. We outscored our opponents in the 12 games by 45-10, and we won 11 of 12 games in this high level event. You could already see how the participation of our players in the U16 and U18 in the new Developmental Academy raised the level of their games in comparison to the other players", stated Dr. Josef Schulz, President of the Academy.

Six boys’ clubs and six girls’ clubs came to the Orlando area to determine a true National Club Champion by competing on the field.  Each of a club’s three teams earned points towards their club’s placement at the 2008 Champions CupFinal club standings, full results and photos of the victors, as well as the Champions Cup Blog, can be found online at www.usclubsoccer.org.
