Kristina Shakes, Donish Cole, and Sarah Coy selected to SYL ODP '94/'95 Select Team
BOCA RATON, FL (Monday, February 23, 2009) - United Soccer Leagues’ 2009 Super Y-League ODP National Camp for Girls born ’92, ’93, ’94 and ’95 concluded on Sunday, February 22, at Ed Radice Sports Complex in northwest Tampa, Florida. The final day of the event consisted of one final match, the SYL ODP National Camp All-Star game for each of the three age divisions. Schulz Academy’s Kristina Shakes (’94), Donish Cole (’95), and Sarah Coy (’95) were selected to the ODP National Girls ’94/’95 Select Team. Schulz Academy is the only club to place three players on any ODP Select Team this year and the Academy led all Florida clubs with 3 National ODP Selections validating the quality of the very young Girls’ program.
"We would like to congratulate Kristina, Sarah and Donish for their outstanding accomplishment. It comes as no surprise to any of us as these three players were amongst our most consistent high performers during the 2008 Super Y-League season and at various tournaments. Still, Yulie Lopez opted out to attend an Interregional Select Camp in California, and Paulina Speckmaier missed out due to injury. It is quite conceivable that Schulz Academy could have had 5 National ODP selections in this one age group alone." said Schulz Academy Director Dr. Josef Schulz.
Sarah Coy was Schulz Academy’s assist leader during the Super Y-League regular season as well as during the North American Finals where she powered her team to the Championship game. Her signature "Beckham-Like" crossing ability was one of the highlights of her performance at the SYL ODP National Camp. She served up two very accurate well flighted deep crosses that resulted in one-time volley goals. Additionally, she delivered two dead ball corner kicks, one that found the back of the net directly, and the other that found the head of her high-flying teammate, Kristina Shakes. After notching a camp leading 5 assists to go along with her two goals, club Director Gary Cole was later told that Sarah Coy had already been placed on the top select team after Day 2 of the four day camp.

Donish Cole was Schulz Academy’s leading goal scorer and was second in assists during the 2008 Super Y-League regular season. She gained a SYL ODP nomination based on her outstanding play at the North American Finals where she powered her team to the Championship game. At the North American Finals Donish scored a famous goal against CASL Elite Railhawks to give CASL their only loss of the 2008 SYL season. At the OPD National Camp, Donish scored after collecting a ball in her own half and dribbling by four opponents and beating the goalkeeper, clearly demonstrating her speed and composure. Her goal in the final All-Star game saw her beat three opponents in a tight space with sharp cuts before launching a 20-yard line drive that found the upper corner, once again composure, skill and deadly accuracy. Donish finished the camp strong accumulating 3 goals and two assists to her credit.

| Kristina Shakes (center blue shirt) at the SYL National ODP Camp was described as the Alpha-Female of the ’94/’95 group. |
Kristina Shakes, known as Tina, was the Schulz Academy U14 Girls captain during the 2008 Super Y-League season. As a midfielder she lead the team in goals scored and was second in assist. At the SYL ODP National Camp it was quite evident who the Alpha Female was in the ’94/’95 age group. Tina demonstrated leadership and commanded respect on and off the field. In the All-Star games played on Saturday and Sunday, Tina started and played central defender and was never beaten or scored on. She matched the pace of the speediest forwards in camp and thwarted every attack. Her physical presence was intimidating to even the most skilled attackers and she brought a steady calm to the back line during both outings. From the centerback position, Tina got forward on several occassions and on one occassion she hit a well timed powerful header off a Sarah Coy corner kick after she seperated from her marker and out-jumped everyone else. Tina’s charismatic smile exuded confidence as she walked off the field at the end of the All-Star game and she left no doubt who was going to be first on that ODP Select list.
