MATT LUZUNARIS MAKES HIS DEBUT IN MLS
Christian “Bopu” Koulouvaris plays well in Austria

7 players of the 2010/11 Schulz Academy Team signed professional contracts this year

While Matt Luzunaris made his MLS debut this week with his new club San Jose Earthquakes playing the last 10 minutes vs. FC Toronto, Christian “Bopu” Koulouvaris started with FC Hard in a 1-1 draw in Bregenz in Austria’s Regionalliga West derby. Christian played already in all games since he joined the Austrian club, and made a very good impression in all these games showing his talent.

“For me it was crucial to have a great preparation before the different try outs for the MLS. At the Schulz Academy I had not only a very serious training but also the individual attention for my position helped me tremendously to get in my rhythm” states Matt Luzunaris after signing with the San Jose Earthquakes.

“7 players, who started the 2011 season with us, signed professional contracts. All of them are playing well, and established themselves in their respective clubs”, says Dr. Schulz, Head Coach of the Schulz Academy.

“Especially the PDL games last season helped me a lot to get to a level where I could think to go pro. Each game is competitive and coach Josef told me when I start to play on a certain level on a consistent basis he will find a club in Europe for me. Even in the Regionalliga here it is tough, because everybody is in great physical shape. I think I established myself already and I see the first season as a start to play on a higher level in the next few years”, explains Christian “Bopu” Koulouvaris.

“Practicing in the morning and in the afternoon under perfect conditions here in Florida makes a big difference in the development of a player. Within weeks you can see the big difference. We are working hard to find professional clubs for at least 6-8 of our current players in the next transfer window in summer”, continues Stephan von Lattorff, manager of the Schulz Academy.

These are the players from the Schulz Academy 2010/2011 team, who are playing professionally now.

Shawn Barry and William Suedois signed with LASK Linz, Bundesliga Austria. Matt Luzunaris signed for MLS club San Jose Earthquakes. Nate Weiss signed for 2nd Division Club Tenhults IF in Sweden. Shawn Chin signed a pro-contract in Edmonton (USL PRO). Christian “Bopu” Koulouvaris plays professionally for Austria’s Regionalliga club FC Hard. Aly Hassan is practicing with 1st division club Astra Ploesti in Rumania.
