Schulz U16s Development Academy Southeast Champions!!!
The U16 Boys won the Southeast Division and earned a final 8 spot in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Finals
BOCA RATON, FL (June 30, 2008) - Schulz Academy U16 Boys became the first team to earn a final 8 spot for the U16s in the U.S Soccer Development Academy League. Goals from Reginald Phelps and Sean Hart were enough to give Schulz Academy a 2-1 win over Pennsylvania Classics. The win gave Schulz an insurmountable 14 point lead over the rest of the field with just 4 games left to play. The U.S. Soccer Development Academy Summer Showcase took place in Greensboro North Carolina from June 27-30 and brough together all 126 Development Academy teams. The fact that Schulz Academy was able to qualify for the final 8 out of all these top teams in the U.S. further solidifies their number 5 ranking from Soccer America for the top boys soccer club in America.

BOCA RATON, FL (June 16, 2008) – Schulz Academy girls went perfect on the weekend with three wins against Super Y-League Southeast Division opponents. The games marked the halfway point for the U13 and U14 girls in their regular season campaign. Both teams sit atop the Southeast Division for their respective age groups. Some notable stories coming out of this weekend’s games for the Schulz Academy girls: Yulie Lopez (’94) scored 5 goals in one game and has 10 goals overall for Schulz after just 3 appearances. Kristina Shakes (’94) scored in her 5th consecutive game and has a U14 team high 6 goals tied with Yulie Lopez. Donish Cole (’95) scored in 6 straight games and has 10 goals overall. Jacquelyn Kinni (’94), who normally plays center defense, has 8 goals just one behind Donish Cole who has a U13 team high 9 goals. Arielle Gonzales (’93) is the U14 assist leader with 6 while Sarah Coy (’95) leads the U13s also with 6 assists. Paulina Speckmaier (’94) has either scored or assisted in every appearance she has made thus far for Schulz. Also, goalkeeper Cheyenne Walker (’94) leads the U13 Girls Southeast Division with 4 shutouts to her credit.

BOCA RATON, FL (June 12, 2008) - Former Schulz Academy and New York Red Bulls young forward Jozy Altidore is headed for Villarreal CF, with the Spanish first division club agreeing to a transfer deal with Major League Soccer for the teenage forward. Villarreal, which finished runner-up to champion Real Madrid in Spain's La Liga this season, has been looking for reinforcements to play next season in the European Champions League, in which it reached the semifinals in 2006. Altidore, praised by many as the United States' best soccer prospect, has always had his eye set on Europe and now he is finally on his way.

Perfect Start For Schulz Academy Boys in Super Y-League
BOCA RATON, FL (June 11, 2008) - The Schulz Academy boys teams started the 2008 USL Super Y-League with convincing wins over their first opponents this past weekend. The U13 Boys ran away 9-0 winners over Miami Strike Force while the U14 Boys registered an emphatic 8-1 victory over West Pines United. Not to be out done, the U16 Boys broke down a tough Miami Strike Force team to score 4 unanswered goals in the second half to come away 4-0 winners. Schulz Academy U13 coach Jorge “Pitu” Alvarez was very pleased with the performance of the team: “It was not only the result, it was especially the quality and individual performance of each of the players of both of our younger teams, which made me very happy”.

Schulz Academy Girls SYL Week 14 Report
BOCA RATON, FL (June 10, 2008) – Three Schulz Academy Girls teams were in action this past weekend as week 14 of the 2008 USL Super Y-League kicked off around the State of Florida. Schulz Academy U13 girls lead by Yulie Lopez (’94), who had a 4-goal performance, earned 6 points with wins over RSL Florida (9-2) and Miami Strike Force (3-0). Kristina Shakes (’94) scored in her 4th straight game as the Schulz Academy U14 girls picked up 4 vital points after a 1-1 tie with RSL and a 4-0 win over Plantation Eagles. Meanwhile, the U15 Girls fell to RSL Florida 2-1.

BOCA RATON, FL (June 3, 2008) - Schulz Academy got it’s 2008 USL Super Y-League campaign off and running with both its U13 Girls and U14 Girls in action at Magic Jack Park in West Palm Beach this past weekend. Both teams experienced mixed results over the weekend but remain confident in their quest for a bid to SYL Nationals as the season is still very young. The U13 Girls dropped their opener to West Pines United 1-3, but then bounced back against Sunrise SC 5-0. The U14s also dropped their opener to Kendall Soccer 0-2 and returned the following day to tie Sunrise SC 1-1.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (May 27, 2008) - The Schulz Academy U16 Boys and U18 Boys picked up two wins each at the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Spring Showcase over the Memorial Day weekend, May 23-27. The U16 Boys increased their lead over their division opponents and in doing so control their own destiny for qualifications to the National Finals in Carson California. The U18 Boys with their two wins continue to trail the leaders in their division. The U16 Boys got goals from Hasani Sinclair (5), Reginald Phelps (2), and Sekani Sinclair in wins over Seacoast United (4-2) and Ohio Elite (4-0). The U16 Boys dropped a 1-0 decision to Columbus Crew. The U18 Boys got goals from Folabit Kingsley (2), Shawn Barry (2), and Julian Serrato in wins over Seacoast United (3-1) and Ohio Elite (2-1). Like their younger counterparts, the U18 Boys dropped a 1-0 decision to Columbus Crew.
Schulz Academy Hands U.S. National Team Their Only Loss in Academy League
Boca Raton (March 30, 2007) – A bit of history was made on Saturday March 28th when Schulz Academy became the first club to hand the U.S. National Team a loss in the Development Academy League play. Two goals by Matias Alvez gave the U16 Schulz Academy team a 2-1 victory over the U16 U.S. National Team. As mentioned, it was the first loss of an U.S. National Team since the start of the Academy League in the fall of 2007.
Schulz Academy Wins 2008 Champions Cup in Dominating Style
Schulz was crowned as the Boys' Club Champions after the U16 and U18 Boys won their respective age groups and the U14 Boys finished as runners up.
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 23, 2008) – Schulz Academy emerged as the overall Boys’ Club Champions of the US Club Soccer 2008 Champions Cup on Sunday, March 23 at David Maus Toyota Seminole Soccer Complex in Sanford, FL. Schulz Academy entered six teams including its U18 and U16 U.S. Soccer Development Academy teams which captured their individual age group titles while their U14 Boys finished second. Schulz Academy Boys won 11 out of 12 games at the Champions Cup and amassed a record 97 points to finsh first overall, some 50+ points clear of the second place team. The four-day Champions Cup is a true club championship utilizing a unique format with clubs accumulating points for results in three age groups. An invitation only event, separate boys’ and girls’ titles were awarded on Sunday. Congratulations to all the players and coaches on a job well done!!!

Former Schulz Academy player, Matt Luzunaris, helped his new club SC Schwanenstadt of the Austrian Bundesliga 2 to two vital wins to start the second half of the season. Last week the team won away against FC Magna Austria 1-0, and this week they played at home and beat FC Parndorf 4-1. With these 2 victories the club secured their stay in the 2nd division for this year. Matt Luzunaris, a starter in both games, helped SC Schwanenstadt to secure these very important 6 points.

Soccer America Top 25 Boys Club Rankings put Schulz Academy at No. 5 Overall
Schulz Academy, a U.S. Soccer Development Academy club, was named to Soccer America’s top 25 Boys’ Clubs for the second year in a row. Schulz jumped from 19 in last year’s rankings to number 5 in 2008. Coming off good performances in various national and international competitions including the Megacard Sommercup in Austria, a strong start to the inagural U.S. Soccer Development Academy season, the 2007 Super-Y-League and in US Club Soccer competitions, Schulz Academy became the only Florida club to receive this honor in 2007 and again in 2008.

 HOUSTON (February 6, 2008) — The U.S. Men’s National Team continued their dominating undefeated streak at home against Mexico this evening with an exciting 2-2 draw in front of 70,103 fans at Reliant Stadium in Houston. Jozy Altidore, the U.S.’ rising 18-year-old phenom, scored on a picture-perfect header in just his third appearance with the national team (and his first against archrival Mexico). Altidore never looked out of place going the entire 90 minutes.
Hasani Sinclair Called up to U.S. U-20 MNT at Copa Chivas
CHICAGO (Jan. 26, 2008) -- Hasani Sinclair has been called to Guadalajara, Mexico by U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team head coach Thomas Rongen for the Copa Chivas tournament, replacing forward Ellis McLoughlin. The U-20 MNT begins group play against Club America tonight after the tournament’s opening ceremonies. The following matches in group play will be against Tecos (Jan. 27), Locomotiv de Moscu (Jan. 28), Estudiantes de la Plata (Jan. 29) and Santos (Jan. 30). If the U.S. advances they could move on to the quarterfinals (Jan. 31), semifinals (Feb. 1) or the final on Feb. 2.

2 Schulz Academy players could play against each other in 2009 in Europe. While the Austrian Newspapers report about the possibility of Jozy Altidore to move to Austria to play for Red Bull Salzburg in summer 2009 (see article below), another Schulz Academy player impressed the coaches in his first practices at Rapid Vienna, Austria’s most successful and popular Bundesliga Club.
5 Schulz Academy Players Invited To U.S. U18 Mega-Camp

BOCA RATON, FL (January 12, 2007) - Schulz Academy players continue to experience success and reap the benefits of their hard work. Five Schulz Academy players were invited to attend the U.S. U18 MNT Mega-Camp in Bradenton, FL from January 17-24, 2008. U.S. U18 MNT head coach Bob Jenkins invited 72 players from around the country to attend the mega-camp for future selection to the U.S. U18 MNT. Unfortunately, two of the players, Matias Alvez and Sean Hart had to decline because they are not U.S. Citizens. Sean Hart is already in the Canadian National Youth system. The players that did accept the invitation are Hasani Sinclair, Kwesi Alleyne, and Steven Seballos. Congratulations and good luck to these players in the upcoming camp in Bradenton.

BOCA RATON, FL (January 8, 2008) - The 2007 US Youth Soccer ODP Super Group for the Disney Showcase in Lake Buena Vista featured 6 Schulz Academy players in the ’91 and ’90 age groups playing on Regional ODP Select teams. Shawn Barry, Alex Dixon, Edvin Worley, and Manny Gonzalez were on the Region III ’90 team, while Hasani Sinclair and Alex Bidos played with the Region III ’91 team. The showcase event is among the top recruiting tournaments in the country. This year, the showcase played host to over 600 teams along with the eight Super Group teams and more than 900 collegiate coaches. US Youth Soccer ODP players participating in the Super Group were selected through a series of trials at their local, State Association and then Regional levels.

Preliminary USL Super Y-League First 11 Announced
TAMPA, FL (October 25,2007) – United Soccer Leagues announced today the preliminary Super Y-League First and Second 11 Club rankings for the 2007 season, recognizing the league’s top competitive and administrative clubs. The release of the list precedes the upcoming SYL North American Finals, where 21 of the clubs in the rankings will be competing for the 10 championships up for grabs November 16-20. Schulz Academy is ranked Number 1 overall in the state of Florida (the SYL Southeast Division is made up of 12 Florida clubs). Schulz Academy is ranked Number 7 overall for boys in North America, and Number 7 overall as a club for boys and girls in the U.S. and Canada combined. No other Florida club is ranked in the First 11 for Boys or Girls. Schulz Academy improved from their overall ranking in 2006 which had them as the Number 8 ranked club in North America. In 2007, Schulz Academy has qualified 4 teams to the Super Y-League North American Finals. This after qualifying 5 teams in 2006. (The Schulz Academy Super-20 Mens team also qualified for the USL Super-20 North American Finals in 2007).

TAMPA — One third of the players invited into U.S. Soccer’s most recent Under-17 Residency Program gained experience while playing in United Soccer Leagues Super Y-League this past season. In all, 17 players on the U.S. U17 Residency roster hail from clubs in the SYL. Clubs forwarding multiple players into residency includes: Schulz Academy (4), the Washington Crossfire (2), and the Chicago Magic (2). 16 SYL players were invited to residency camp in 2006.
"Our first goal in the Schulz Soccer Academy is to provide players for the highest level. I think all 4 players have the potential to reach the level to play in the Men’s National Team in 4-5 years, and they definitely have the quality to become professional soccer players in the future in Europe. I will help them as much as I can, to provide these opportunities when the time is right", says Dr. Schulz, founder of the Schulz Academy.
